With the fluctuation in COVID-19 cases, many shore cities have cancelled or postponed their fireworks shows and Fourth of July events. If you’re looking for others ways to pass the time during this 3-day weekend, here are a few ideas!
Don’t forget to be safe. There’s still a pandemic going on and there’s always a chance you can get sick if you go out.
Weekend Ideas
Have a BBQ with friends and family
Invite your immediate family or your close friends for a chill barbecue or kickback during the weekend. Make it a game night with some party games, or make it an outdoor movie night if you can get your hands on a projector.
Enjoy an outdoor brunch/dinner
Want to treat yourself to a nice meal for the holiday without all the fuss? Enjoy an outdoor brunch or dinner at one of the several restaurants offering outdoor dining in Jersey City.
You can take a look at our Outdoor Dining guide for restaurants, rules in place, and more information.
Spend the day at the park or beach
Take a day trip to a park or beach during the holiday weekend. While current regulations require a limited capacity in these community spaces, be prepared for more people out and about than usual. Head to the park/beach early, find a good spot, pack some snacks, and enjoy the day!
Invite friends for a movie night
If you want to keep things relaxed, watch a movie with friends or have a virtual movie night with everyone. The musical Hamilton will be available to stream on Disney+ as of July 3rd, if you want to watch the story of Alexander Hamilton’s impact on a growing nation as told through hip-hop and R&B and a beautifully diverse cast.
Virtual events
If you decide to hang out at home, enjoy some virtual events on Saturday.
