Mayor Fulop and City Officials Break Ground on State’s Tallest Building.
Photos by Mike Demoya
Didn’t we just go to the tallest building?! Craziness!!
Already home to seven of the state’s ten tallest buildings, Mayor Steven M. Fulop yesterday joined with members of the Municipal Council and representatives of China Overseas America, as well as officials from the Chinese Consulate, to break ground on a 79-story residential tower that at 900 feet will be the tallest building in the state, dramatically remaking the New Jersey skyline into one that rivals other major cities.
With 781 condominium units, the development, by China Overseas America, Inc. at 99 Hudson Street, is also the most significant condo project ever in the state, illustrating the strength of the Jersey City housing market. The project will also include approximately 18,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, and provides for additional public spaces and plazas, including 7,365 square feet of public plaza space.
“This is a transformative project. It will dramatically reshape New Jersey’s skyline, but more than that, it is symbolic of our continued growth as a world-class metropolis,” said Mayor Fulop. “The fact is, more people than ever want to call Jersey City home, and more businesses than ever want to invest here.”

Around Town
Safe before the Storm at Liberty Humane Society
It is said that Winter Storm Jonas was one of worst storms to hit Jersey City in history. Right before the storm hit, two dogs, Braveheart and Faithful, were lost and roaming around Liberty State Park. After charging at an approaching officer, Braveheart was shot and is currently undergoing emergency surgery to remove the bullets and help heal the wounds. The LHS has sent out a donation request to help with the cost of his surgery.
Once Braveheart is healed, he will be up for adoption along with his companion Faithful along with other amazing animals during the first and second week of February. Find The One for you.
