Part-Time Content Writer
ChicpeaJC is looking for a part-time writer to join our team! The writer will be creating new blog posts and working closely with the Editor.
Content Writer responsibilities include conducting research for local culture and news stories, generating ideas for new blog content, and conducting interviews with business owners and the community. Must be familiar with our interview style and overall writing style.

Content Writer Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating attention-grabbing headlines and articles
- Producing articles on various topics, from food to breaking news
- Researching local news and organizing facts and sources
- Interviewing Jersey City business owners and residents
- Transcribing interviews conducted by other team members
- Presenting new ideas for the blog
- Developing articles on underrepresented topics
- Creating ‘listicles’ and other short-form articles
Content Writer Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be a Jersey City local and familiar with Jersey City’s culture, businesses, and news
- Must be familiar with the blog and its style
- Must have a laptop or tablet
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with WordPress preferred
- Proficient computer skills, including Google Docs and Microsoft Word
- Good interpersonal skills, within the team and the community
- Willingness to share opinions and constructive criticism to improve the blog
- Ability to work independently as well as an active member of a team
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Photography skills preferred, but not required
- Journalism, Communications, English, and related majors preferred
Hours: 20-25 hours/week, weekends and holidays excluded. Writers would work under a flexible work schedule.
Pay: Depends on experience, will be discussed.

Social Media Intern (Summer)
ChicpeaJC is looking for a summer intern for social media management and marketing. The intern will be working closely with the Social Media Manager.
Social Media Intern responsibilities include assisting with content creation and helping with engagement.
Social Media Intern Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with creating content for social media accounts, including photos, videos, and captions
- Helping with engagement on the accounts and maintaining/growing a following
- Developing ideas for posts and creating vision boards for brand image
- Visiting clients’ businesses for up-to-date, organic content
- Organizing photos and videos in the Drive for ease of access
Content Writer Requirements and Qualifications
