If you’ve taken a drive through 1&9 recently, you may have noticed a cute billboard with an uplifting message: “More Love = Less Hate. Humanity is the only way!”
Years ago, Julian Rodriguez put together a social club –Black Squad– that eventually grew into a community-oriented organization that actively works toward helping anyone in need.
Back in 2015, Black Squad put up a billboard by North Bergen with the message, “No matter what, never give up. Keep going! Don’t tear people down. Help build them up!” It was something Julian wanted to share with anyone who might be having a bad day or needs a sense of hope throughout the day. Now, a new billboard was put up by JRT’s Helping Hands/Black Squad with a similar message.

Following the December 10th shooting, JRT’s Helping Hands put together a billboard with the help of LR Creative Agency to promote love and to honor the four individuals killed that day as well as the officers on duty. It’s an overall great message and we’re happy to see local organizations spread love one positive message at a time!
