When it comes to working with the community, it’s important to share the different ways we can help students receive the supplies and educational resources they need to thrive. From books to meals, students in low-income regions tend to receive less assistance and services for their education. In comes Balance Boxes!
Balance Boxes is a youth-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is focused on providing snacks, toys, books, games, and more to children in low-income communities. Each box is created with a designated theme to ensure the boxes are tailored toward each child’s interests. The boxes include books (picture and/or chapter books), educational games, school supplies, a theme-related toy, art project, and game. Balance Boxes also include an easy-to-make meal and kid-friendly snack to keep children engaged in their activities.
The Balance Boxes New Jersey Chapter serves the whole state and is currently accepting donations. They’ve currently raised over $25,000 worth of donations for children in low-income communities in NJ, and they are accepting in-kind donations such as old toys or books. If interested in donating to Balance Boxes or if you are a high school that is interested in joining the chapter, visit their website for more information.
